Book Aims to Set Record Straight on Vatican II
A Curia official has written a new book on the Second Vatican Council, giving the Holy See's point of view on that milestone event.
"Il Concilio Ecumenico Vaticano II. Contrappunto per la Sua Storia" (The Second Vatican Council: Counterpoint for Its History) is written by Archbishop Agostino Marchetto, secretary of the Pontifical Council for Migrants and Travelers, and published by the Vatican Publishing House.
Yet another encouraging sign from Rome long overdue. Let us not fool ourselves, however. Those who have made a career by promoting the false "spirit of Vatican II" in order to further their agenda for the Church in America and around the world will not recognize this book as an accurate representation of the Council or the opinions of the Church Fathers who took part. What is at stake, namely the future of the Church, is too important for the liberal heterodox camp to go quitely into the night. With the election of Benedict XVI, they have seen their hopes dashed once again and furthermore, they fear that this pope will be more strict in his disciplenary actions.
Only time will tell, but I wonder and pray that our good Pope Benedict is planning a logical and concerted assault on the forces that have hijacked Christ's Church over the last 40 years in the name of Vatican II. Examples are being set, instructions are being issued and pressure is beginning to be applied to some of the worst offenders. I for one will watch developments with great interest.
